Lavallette, Seaside Heights and the Barnegat Bay are located to the east.

Toms River Regional School District consists of 18 schools and had an enrollment of 16,125 students in 2014-2015. This district also services the boroughs of Beachwood, Pine Beach and South Toms River. Monsignor Donovan High School, Ocean County’s only Catholic High School, is also located in Toms River. Ocean County College (OCC), a community college, has its main campus in Toms River. OCC is associated with Kean University. Bruce Springsteen briefly attended Ocean County Community College. Novins Planetarium, located on the OCC campus, features educational programs and fun laser shows.

Joshua Huddy Park, named after Captain Joshua Huddy of the Revolutionary War, is located in downtown Toms River. This is the location for farmer’s markets, local events and concerts.
